Resident
West Virginia University
I am a third year Family Medicine Resident at West Virginia University (WVU). My interest in Lifestyle medicine surged during my first year of residency resulting in me joining the Lifestyle Medicine Track and starting the Lifestyle Medicine Residency Curriculum. I am the first resident at WVU and likely the first resident physician in the state of West Virginia to formally obtain training in Lifestyle Medicine.
My background has always focused on the principles associated with Lifestyle Medicine. My undergraduate degree is in Exercise Physiology. Following this degree, I became a personal trainer and class instructor. I then proceeded to medical school but continued to be a part time person trainer during medical school. My big focus has always been overall health. I grew up playing every sport possible and learned the importance of exercise early. Then recently I became very interested in nutrition and how food as medicine can help my patients. My plan for the future is to become dual board certified in Family Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine and run a very successful outpatient Primary Care practice that focuses on the principles of Lifestyle Medicine.
